Mahara will set out why ethical letting practice and profitability are not opposites. Good standards reduce voids, arrears and disputes over time, not just tick a moral box, and meeting the legal minimum (gas safety, EPC, deposit protection) is the floor, not the ceiling.
She will cover vetting RSL and broker partners in supported exempt accommodation, why transparency with tenants builds trust and reduces reputational risk, and how the same governance principles scale from a small agency to a housing association board, ahead of the Renters' Rights Act and PRS Database.

Breaking the Cycle of Homelessness Through
Supported Living
Jade Payton is a Referral Officer at Aspire Supported Living CIC, based in Handsworth, Birmingham. Her work focuses on helping adults aged 18 and over access accommodation and the right support to build safer, more stable and independent lives. She works across social work teams, local authorities, homelessness organisations and charities to find appropriate housing for people experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges and other vulnerabilities.
She will draw on her experience building referral pathways and partnerships to explore how supported accommodation can break the cycle of homelessness, what effective collaboration between providers, commissioners and support services looks like in practice, and how to make the referral process work better for the individuals at the centre of it.
